Airborne Technologies designed and built the Resolution UAS during the late summer of 2007. Details of the Resolution can be downloaded here. The Resolution is a marinized flying wing design. Wing span is just over 2 meters. The UAS packs down into an airline transportable rugged carrying case. The efficient airframe is powered by an electric motor. Typical survey speeds range from 50-70 kts and the endurance for a typical survey flight is approx. 1 1/2 hrs. Sensors can be installed on the aircraft for remote sensing operations. All telemetry is sent back to the ground station via a radio modem.
The aircraft can be flown autonomously or be operator controlled. It is either hand launched or can be launched from a simple catapult launcher. The aircraft is landed by the operator either in the water or on land. Future versions will include autonomous landing capability.
